Old Town Alexandria is a historic town founded in 1790. George Washington used to travel from his farm (10 miles south of Old Town) to go to Gadsby Inn to socialize with Thomas Jefferson among other Revolutionary War notables. He often would spend the night at Yates Tavern/Inn in South Old Town (The Yates house and mine share an old brick wall that connects the houses on the 700 South Pitt block). The houses on South Pitt are connected (on my side of the street) so everyone knows socialize and help each other.
