Erie has several senior centers, a couple day centers for older adults with dementia who need special care during the day. Erie is well-known for its LIFT public transportation service which accommodates wheelchairs and picks up older adults at their homes (or wherever they live).

This town is not ADA friendly. There are no ramps at many of the intersections for wheel chairs and some of the main sidewalks are made of uneven flag stone making it hard to walk and use a manual wheelchair. A lot of the businesses do not have easy handicap entrances. The buses do have ramps and area for wheel chairs.
