Indianapolis is the capital and most populous city of the U.S. state of Indiana and the seat of Marion County. As of 2017, Indianapolis is the third most populous city in the American Midwest and 16th most populous in the U.S.

The Central Indiana Council on Aging has 3 primary ways it interacts with the public and maintains age-friendliness with its residents:

  1. CareAware: CareAware services include one-on-one options counseling for individuals of any income level as well as group education and support.

  2. CICOA’s Aging & Disability Resource Center can help you make informed decisions about Planning for in-home or long-term care, Housing options, Community-based services, including home-delivered meals, transportation, home modifications and more, Accessing resources to help pay for services (Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance), Transitioning between levels of care, Peer support, and Self care.

  3. Flourish: Flourish Care Management is a comprehensive service designed to meet the long-term care needs of older adults and people of any age with disabilities in a home or community-based setting with better health outcomes, better care, and at a lower cost than institutional care.  Using a team-based, person-centered approach, our care managers assess an individual’s eligibility for services, functional impairment and care needs, develop a customized plan of care, and coordinate all services required to extend independent living.

It's very age friendly because a lot of the same people have lived there for years and we all know each other . Also In my neighborhood it's a lot new college kids in a older neighborhood and we're still greeted and treated respectfully.

I say it's age friendly because most people are very respectful of the elderly and will lend a helping hand to them if they see they have a lot of groceries that need to be carried out, or see them struggling at a gas pump or struggling to walk into a Place business or if they see them having trouble finding something. Also a lot of restaurants offer senior citizens and businesses will offer a senior citizen discount. Bad because it's just so busy here. Too many young people too many cars out all the time. The stores are always crowded and some people don't care to assist an elderly in distress.
