Taylorsville has a brand new retirement community called Summit Vista. One of the largest in Utah. There's great shopping, theaters, and many recreational activities.

Salt Lake City is a cosmopolitan city with older neighborhoods mixed with new. It is moving toward a Millennial atmosphere with new upscale stores and shops, but with a substantial older population. Housing is getting expensive, but moving away from the city center helps to get affordable housing. There is a lot of activities for older interests, along with amazing outdoor opportunities with the Wasatch mountains only 10 minutes away and all the cultural activites you would expect in a larger city (Symphony, live theaters, ballet, etc. Public Transportation includes valley-wide bus routes and trax rail lines. Multiple Community Senior centers and senior-friendly events are available year around, along with some major new age-friendly residence complexes complete with sports, on-site medical staff, and a choice of care levels.

I have worked at Brook dale Senior Living in Salt Lake City. I am neutral on this because even though it was an upscale community, I don't believe their senior care there was top-rate.

Older people are respected for the most part.
