Finding meaningful work has been a challenge for me. There is a huge population in this city which includes lots of young (below 49 years of age) people living here. I feel employers prefer to hire younger, less experienced workers for professional jobs than more experienced seniors. Most of the interview I have had have been with people in mid-to senior level roles who are in the above mentioned age range. I have seldom if ever interviewed with someone in my age range. I don't know if they are all retired or just not working at those places of employment. I have live in several other large cities and it has never taken me this long to find desired employment!

It's ability to recognize or not recognize that senior individuals still have a lot to offer to the younger generations and would love to be a part of the work force. I feel that other reasons are being used to explain why I did not get the job. The reason would sound ligitimate except for the fact that after I went over that hurdle, I was presented with new hurdles. it was like a covert form of prejudice to me. Example: I would be told at the Associates degree level that I need a Bachelors degree and a CADC. At the Bachelors degree level with a CADC, I was told I needed a Masters degree. At the Masters degree level, I was told I needed an RN. All this and still I was without a job to support myself while there were people working in the field without an Associates, Bachelors and Masters degree...and some people may have even been working in the field without a CADC...and I still haven't worked in THAT field yet. I am just waiting to see what will be said to me now.
