Mostly transportation options. There are also quite a few retirement housing facilities, but not enough that are subsidized. Pavement is often uneven, which is a walking hazard for many people. The city cannot keep-up with the need for pavement repairs. The need is higher than in many cities, because of the climate.

There are several non-profits that specifically target senior citizens. One is A Little Help that matches younger volunteers with seniors for relationship-building and service. Another is Senior Resource Center. It provides free transportation to seniors and people with disabilities. Most of their free rides are for health care appointments. Access-a-Ride and Access-a-Cab are programs of Regional Transportation of Denver. These provide transportation to people who qualify for a reasonable cost. Furthermore, these last three agencies have drivers that are carefully screened and trained to in safe transport techniques for disabled passengers. Another resource is the senior living agency where I live: Kavod Senior Life. It offers HUD-subsidized housing, but also a lot of grant funding. It is my opinion that the Life Enrichment Director at Kavod is superlative - perhaps the best in the nation. There is a wide/varied array of special acitivities for mature citizens that are open to the public as well as to residents. Many are free, but some have a nominal fee. Additionally Denver is one of the cleanest cities in the nation. City planners try to discourage motorists from always using private vehicles. RTD vehicles have very low emissions. The clean air makes Denver a good place to live for anyone with respiratory/cardiac issues. There are also dog parks for people to exercise their canine companions.

Denver and Aurora seem to be age friendly. Transportation, community services and education opportunities seem readily available. Affordable senior housing limited and a concern
