Family is of value to the locals we care for our elders and we all do our part to take care of them just like they did for us as children. I believe that's what makes Porterville an age friendly community.
Our town is age friendly nobody has hurt the elderly in our community. There is transportation for them if they need. They also have group homes for them and I would love to help them I've always been there to help my grandma she's 88 and she lives alone. I take care of her when nobody else can.
I say it's very age friendly because I've moved around this town serval times. Many of my neighbors that I had a connection with were either 50+ or older. They are very friendly, come outside and have a conversation with her my siblings, parents or with me. Out of my many neighbors I had a connection with only 5 of them had a education growing up. They would give us some type of resource such as telling us not to give up when we were younger, letting us know everything will be okay when someone was going bad. They would even bake us cupcakes or buy us snacks at the stores when they would go grocery shopping.
Friendly people, and small town creates pleasant atmosphere for intentionality.
