This city has a very pleasing climate with temperatures ranging from the 40's - 60's degrees F all year long. Mild winters and very warm to hot summers. San Antonio has approximately 6 military bases in the area and many military retirees remain in the area. The city and surrounding area had lots of programs and amenities that cater to retirees including affordable housing, abundant healthcare accessibility, transportation and activities. The cost of living is also very affordable in the San Antonio area. The appears to be an assertive effort to include include people of all ages into the culture, communities, life styles and amenities the area has to offer.
I don't know much about the residents or the neighborhood as yet since I've only been here a few months. From what I've seen so far, the people are very easy to be around and there's a lot of people of all ages.
Lots of opportunities for seniors
I would say age friendly. Baby boomers are aging. Unfortunately, at a rapid pace. There are gracious people in this city. Very family oriented. But on the flip side, we have women who lost their way..and it's not pretty..overdose and alcoholics who passed away..it is sad..for they were my close friends....they were both gracious.
Lack of public transportation, no senior communities close by.
